An important, stirring read by a diverse group of writers with disabilities. All are non-cis, nonwhite (or at least I think most are people of color and/or Queer). The final piece is by the great Maysoon Zayid, the famous comedian/actor/activist. So you'll end this book not just revved up but with a smile on your face, too. I like, too, that each essay begins with a list of topics discussed, which serves as a kind of trigger warning, and ends with a short bio of each writer. My only complaint is that much of the material is already somewhat dated. Many of the essays were written in the immediate aftermath of the election of Donald Trump in late 2016. Concerns about his appointment of Justice Gorsuch, for example, would seem to pale in comparison to his more recent appointment of Justice Kavanaugh. Still, a vital piece of literature that gives voice to many perspectives that might otherwise remain unspoken.
This was such a good read!!! With so many perspectives & standpoints, there is a lot to learn from this text. I plan on integrating the majority of it into my introductory women’s and gender studies class that I’m teaching so that my students can learn from these excellent writers!!

It's so valuable to hear the perspectives of multiply-marginalised disabled people, all with their unique insights on approaching disability activism, disability justice and grappling with the aftermath of the Trump election. Would highly recommend to other disabled people and other activists, disabled or not.
