I have a billion cookbooks. Cookbooks can be frustrating. You have to match the cookbook to your style. I don't need to read about the author's relationships and how they relate to her cooking. I don't have any desire to prepare a perfectly good piece of fish with some sort of beurre blanc and a plum reduction with asparagus and truffles. But I realize plenty of people do. And I can see how some people might look at this book and say, "An entire book of nothing but recipes for a 9 x 13 baking pan? Are you serious?"This book has page after page of... recipes, and virtually no talk outside of the ingredients and the preparation instructions. From my relatively limited experience, the recipes work. The recipes work quite well. A couple of these recipes and my kids acted like I've never made anything good until now. LOL. Sometimes I can go through an entire cookbook and not find one winner.The first thing I did is look at the list of recipes and Orange Chicken stuck out. I thought to myself, "There's a billion recipes in this book. There's no way the author tested all of these; it'd take ten years. Let's get this over with: Citrus and chicken. There's a 1% chance that'll work. I'll give it a shot." What happened? Everybody loved it. Then I tried some other dish. No leftovers. LOL. Good enough for me. And tons of good down-to-earth ideas in those pages.
This one inch thick- paperback, 400+ pages is the most boring/bland cookbook I ever ordered, and I own 1000+-----page after page of ingredients with recipe method on each individual recipe page------GROAN- NOT ONE SINGLE PHOTO OF A FINISHED DISH . Nothing to see here folks---It is simply a boring repository of maybe some good recipes. but it is such an unwelcoming read- I gave it to my Salvation Army Retail Store.
The table of contents has no order, and neither does the book. There are no groups, no pictures, just random recipes. This person figured out how to publish 100 cookbooks. The best chefs in the world do not have as many, yet somehow she thinks she is just that good. I wish I could return this.
She writes the best books. I have bought most of them and find that this one has topped the list!!

What I liked was these recipes are creative, quick, and fun recipes. No Debbie downers here. Lots of ingredients already in your pantry. I have nearly all her books! Watson is terrific in the kitchen. I'm happy to have added this book.
All in a cake pan, such a utilitarian cooking vessel. Highly recommend! A great variety for all! Two thumbs up!
