I have a background in Online Curriculum Design and become very interested in Assistive Technology, and it's various applications in the learning process. Dr. Coomb's book impressed me so much I looked up his background. I found out more about him and decided to take an online 5 course certificate course he is teaching through EASI (Equal Access to Software & Information) and am currently enrolled.Dr. Coomb's viewpoint is from someone who is visually impaired and has accomplished a lot in his life. It is from the opinion of a person who has used Assistive Technology and is straightforward, practical and very informative. For anyone interested in this area and would like to learn from someone "who allows you to walk a mile in his moccasins," this is an excellent book.

Norman Coombs, CEO of Equal Access to Software and Information (EASI), has created a much needed resource in our field with Making Online Teaching Accessible: Inclusive Course Design for Students with Disabilities, a Jossey-Bass Guide to Online Teaching and Learning. Not only does he provide information about making distance learning accessible to students with disabilities, he provides strategies with the goal of maximizing the learning of all students. You can read the longer review at my blog: [....]

There are technical books on Web accessibility written for Web designers and developers. There is a book on "universal design for learning" that covers broad general principles. But here, at last, is a book that the average faculty member can actually use.As someone who teaches accessibility to faculty, I am delighted to see that Dr. Coombs managed to get all the most important stuff into his book while keeping it concise and easy to read. Nicely done.

Great guide, will come in handy at work.
